The deflt kernel is compiled with Pentium optimizations. In order to run SuSE on a 80386, you need the i386 kernel.

So, on my Celeron 333 machine it would be best to use the deflt kernel, Yes?

Yep, that's right. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.

Yes. Pentium-optimized in this case simply means that it is optimized for Pentium-class processors, which do not have to be specifically Pentium. My AMD K6 is also a Pentium-class processor, as is Intel Celeron, AMD Duron, AMD Athlon. I should think it will be good on any Intel-compatible processor above (not including) a 80486. Regards Ole

I discovered the hard way that an AMD 5x133 is NOT pentium-class. It's merely a 486 on speed. Well, mebbe not speed, just a cup of strong coffee!
