I use openSuSE 10.3 64 bits version. When I try to add online repos from Yast, I receive always an error message. I have tried several online repos without success. My Internet provider is a mobile phone operator and I use a 3G wireless modem. The Internet connection works fine and I have used the web interface in order to search new packages for openSuSE. However, I would like to update my system using online repos, because is too difficult to solve by hand all issues. Could you give some advises? regards -- Bogdan Cristea -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Perhaps it would help if you specified what the error message is? -- Benjamin Weber -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Did you have updated system? If not open Terminal console and run command: sudo zypper sa http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3 after that, start Yast>Software>Online update and update your system. And it shoud solve your issues -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
I have tried Alexander's advice, but I get the same error (see below). sudo zypper sa http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3 update * Adding repository 'update' Problem transferring repository data from specified URL: Curl error for 'http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/repodata/repomd.xml': Error code: Error message: Empty reply from server Please, check whether the specified URL is accessible. bogdan@bogdan:~> sudo zypper sa download.opensuse.org/update/10.3 update Given URL is invalid. You should read what he wrote. The URL is: http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/update so use: sudo zypper sa http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/update update Ciao -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
And I get: sudo zypper sa http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3/update update * Adding repository 'update' Can't find a valid repository at given location: Could not determine the type of the repository. Urls, http://download.opensuse.org/update/10.3 was good already. I guess the server you got from us is currently not working correctl, or a proxy is acting up. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Yes, me too I have the impression that there is a proxy blocking my requests. Thank you for your help. Bogdan On Thursday 17 April 2008 23:08:05 you wrote:

If you are behind an authenticated proxy try adding the following to /root/.curlrc --proxy-user = "username:password" --proxy = "http://proxy.address.here:8080" Substituting values where appropriate. One of the online updates fixes the authenticated proxy issue, but if you haven't been able to get those then that might indeed be the problem. -- Benjamin Weber -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
