Yast recently started reporting conflicts with a new update: - em28xx-new-kmp-default-20081230_2.6.27.7_9.1-1.1.x86_64 requires kernel(default:drivers_media_dvb_dvb-core) = 74d8f9b4ba7b2985, but this requirement cannot be provided - compat-wireless-kmp-default-2.6.20081228_2.6.27.7_9.1-2.1.x86_64 requires kernel(default:mm) = 1f8daf6fabebb6b3, but this requirement cannot be provided Is there something wrong with this update ? Looks like you're trying to install the new kernel, and these kernel modules (which I think you have found in the open build service somewhere) aren't being updated. Note that they are built for the old kernel. You should either uninstall these old drivers, or find updates for them. software.opensuse.org/search says there are plenty built for the new kernel Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Out of curiosity, how often does the KBI change?

As rarely as possible. There is a conscious effort to maintain a stable ABI, but it's not always possible Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Hopefully not often. We did it this now once due to switch to the SLE11 kernel base. Since we are tracking the SLE11 kernel, which has very strict kABI stability requirements, we might not ever need to do such a change again.
