Hi Installed SuSE 8.2 before it was released and then found that I then needed a KDE update due to a bug. Other than that I am very impressed. Reminds me of Mandrake a lot. Question I'd like to ask is as follows..... After installing the updates I now find that my Kmail folders have re-organised themselves without me telling them to do so. They used to be in alphabetical order. They they are in any old order but they are based around the number of messages in each folder. 0 messages in each folder at the top and 4000 + messages at the bottom. My inbox moves up and down this ladder when I download mail depending on how many messages are downloaded. This makes me laugh quite a bit. Anyone know how to sort this out or do we have to wait for another KDE update from SuSE ? -- Richard www.sheflug.co.uk

Click on the folder column header to sort by folder. Can you explain what you mean ? Can't understand.
The folder column header is the area above your folders that identifies the column (it has the word "Folder" in it). You should be able to click on it once the sort alphabetically. Click on it again and it will do a reverse sort. Hmm... no, can't see anything like that in Kmail 1.5.1 and SuSE 8.2. I can see the words "local folders" at the top of the folders list. Nothing else. I did try to do what you asked me to do and it did resort the folders but none of them are once again in an alphabetical order. I can see a long list of folders that are unsorted. Been a long day :) I'm probably not wide awake just now. Thanks -- Richard

When you wake up, take another look :) directly above the words "local folders" should be the word "folder" as a column title element (between the folder "tree" and the menu/icon bar at the top of the window) There should also be a black triangle that will point either up or down, depending on the order of the sort. FAILING that, you could try editing the config file [warning: potentially dangerous -- make a backup...] look in the file $HOME/.kde/share/config/kmailrc for a section called [geometry]; within that should be a couple of keyword/value pairs for "sortcolumn: and "sortascending" -- in my file, "sortcolumn" is set to zero. make sure that you are OUT of kmail before editing this file (I think kmail may "save on exit" or something screwy, which would overwrite anything you tried to do) FAILING that, go to the KDE.org site and look up the kmail bug database (or post the question on the kmail-specific mailing list) - -- Yet another Blog: http://osnut.homelinux.net -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.7 (GNU/Linux) Comment: http://osnut.homelinux.net/TomEmerson.asc iD8DBQE+m1JtV/YHUqq2SwsRAq9YAJ9t61PhZY1Q3CFsKPSnTzpkJYM2OgCfVsTR KrZn0R4tSRDy7P+JXf2S9NU= =D4NG -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----

Ah .. that's better. I can see what you mean now. Clicked on the "folder" bar and this sorted the folders. Looks like I was suffering from being awake for too long. Some of the folders are still out of order but most of them are where they should be. Thanks -- Richard
