Installing SuSE 9.2 on a Dell Optiplex GX270
My work computer is a Dell Optiplex GX270, with an Intel 865G graphics chip, and a Dell E771P monitor. Under SuSE 8.2, I was unable to get it to recognize more than 1 MB of video RAM. (Or the wheel on my USB wheel mouse.) I recently tried to install SuSE 9.2. The installer recognized the wheel mouse correctly, but when I got to the main installation menu, where it proposes the software load, partitioning, boot method, etc., the left side window and the main window appeared to be black on black, and completely unreadable. The same thing happened both using safe settings and after trying to set the monitor selection to monochrome. I could presumably work around this because there is a visible button on the bottom of the screen that brings up the needed menus, but I'm not sure this is a smart thing to do. Does anyone have any ideas what might cause the black on black problem? Thanks, Peter Taylor
