The one you mention above (Seagate Hornet 10/20) should work just fine. I've got one in the file server at work, dirt standard SuSE 6.2 kernel, runs like a champ. - Chron and tar. I've also got an HP Colorado in our development server on 6.3, same deal, runs fine.
