Re: [SLE] windows xp overwrites the linux boot manager (YET NOT SOLVED)
As I said in another e-mail, alternatly, I used /sbin/lilo and it worked. By now, the boot loader is ok and it is launching the linux OS. Just the SuSE O.S. is not loading properly. It stops in these errors (already explained in an another e-mail):
read_super_block: can't find a reiserfs filesystem on (dev03:0a, block 64, size 1024) read_super_block: can't find a reiserfs filesystem on (dev03:0a, block 8, size 1024) kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 03:0a
I'm going to think I have two options ahead: 1.now that LILO can load, discocer how set my fstab and enable my root partition (sorry for being ignorant) 2.try to boot the installed OS througth a floppy to recover it In both case, I don't know either what to do it. a. David Chapman escreveu:

This happened to me not long ago. My sysem did boot after a couple of tries. But in the end I made a Grub boot floppy to boot the system. If you have files you realy must recover have a look at http://www.gnu.org/software/grub/ Once you have a Grub boot floppy you can boot from it by passing a couple of parameters to it. Took me a couple of days to figure it out thought. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "My feet are small for the same reason my waist is small -- things don't grow in the shade." -- Dolly Parton
