Hi, I have SuSE 9.1 Linux PC which is used for video purposes. It requires value of swappiness to be very low in order to avoid video flickering. I have set swappiness with "echo 10 > /proc/sys/vm/swappiness". However, after reboot it is back to 60 (echo `cat /proc/sys/vm/swappiness`). Anyone knows how to make this change permanent? Thanks in advance for any suggestion(s). ************************************************ *** with best regards *** Andrei Verovski (aka MacGuru) *** Mac, Linux, DTP, Programming Web Site *** *** http://snow.prohosting.com/guru4mac/ ************************************************
Try adding: vm.swappiness=10 to /etc/sysctl.conf (create it if necessary) man sysctl man sysctl.conf -----Original Message----- From: Andrei Verovski (aka MacGuru) [mailto:andreil1@starlett.lv] Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2004 1:22 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] swappiness Setting is not Saved Between Reboots Hi, I have SuSE 9.1 Linux PC which is used for video purposes. Hi, Robert, I have tried this. Sorry, do not work for me :-(
Try adding:
vm.swappiness=10 to /etc/sysctl.conf (create it if necessary)
man sysctl man sysctl.conf
