I can't find an option that lets me look for all email postings with a keyword. For example, I'm having trouble setting my video of my dell inspiron 8000. Two people sent me emails based on my posting here saying they switched to redhat 7.1 and all the little problems went away. I'd sure like to search the laptop list for inspiron 8000. thanks

Please post the chipset that's in this laptop. At a prompt as root you can execute this command to find out pretty much everything that's attached to your PCI bus (yes even AGP video).. lspci -vv Please mail the output back so we can take a peak. It may be a simple fix. You can also go to http://www.linux-laptop.net/ and they should have some good info on XFree86 and your laptop chipset. You have to understand that when I hear " People are switching to <distribution> " because they happen to have some luck with it..it makes a bit angry. The software RH 7.1 has is the same as the SuSE stuff..same source. Their configuration routine might catch the chipset in your laptop better then SuSE's or Caldera's or whatever..but it's the same stuff. The site I sent you to is a good source for XF86Config files that you can just drop into /etc/X11 and they work. I was hipped to this site by a guy at SuSE that I worked with. :) Cheers! -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org cat CE|ME|NT|XP > /dev/null
