Trying to install SLES 9 on some new compaq gear with a new flat-panel rack mount display and apparently the SLES 9 installer is using a resolution greater than 1024x768. (why I have absolutely no idea) As soon as the linux installation kernel starts booting the display goes black with a warning on the screen saying to reduce resolution to 1024x768. (the display is producing the warning) I tried also selecting "Installation with safe settings" as well and same problem. Is there a way to force the installer to use a lower resolution? Doesnt make sense for a server class operating system to require a resolution higher than 1024x768. (very odd it requires a graphical display at all IMHO) We have 3 different brands of rack-mounted displays in our data center and not one will support a resolution > 1024x768. (and all bought within the last 12 months) ===== Chuck Carson - Sr. Systems Engineer Syrrx, Inc. - www.syrrx.com 10410 Science Center Drive San Diego, CA 92121 Work: 858.622.8528 Fax: 858.550.0526

Can't you change it with F2? I don't know about SLES 9, but since at least 8.2 you can change the startup resolution easily with F2. -- Joe Morris New Tribes Mission Email Address: Joe_Morris@ntm.org Registered Linux user 231871
