[opensuse] opensuse 10.3 smart pkg conflict
I have a package confict when attempting to update opensuse 10.3 from the smart package manager: file /usr/lib/libmtp.so.6 from install of libmtp7-0.2.3-0.pm.1 conflicts with file from package libmtp-0.2.1-10 file /usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/10-usb-music-players-libmtp.fdi from install of libmtp7-0.2.3-0.pm.1 conflicts with file from package libmtp-0.2.1-10 My smart channels are: opensuse-10.3-ftp opensuse-10.3-ftp-nonoss opensuse-10.3 updates packman 3rd party package repository rpm system I saw a recent similar opensuse problem report yesterday, which was fixed by Marcus Meissner. So I updated my channels in hopes of capturing the fix, but to no avail. Please let me know how to resolve this conflict, and whether I should be making changes to my active channels. thanks, Jeff -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

the "problem" exists because the packager of libmtp-0.2.1.10 has not properly defined the dependencies. You would have the same problem with yast and yam and apt and .... iianm, you are also upgrading amarok which requires libmtp. do smart query --requires libmtp7 if you only get libmtp* and amarok packages, do smart remove amarok libmtp7 then do smart install amarok libmtp and you should be good to go. ps, remember to do SuSEconfig and ldconfig afterwards. the commandline parameter, --help, to *most* commandline applications will give you assistance, ie: smart --help smart query --help - -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn4472 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHKNrWClSjbQz1U5oRAqCMAKCHA4OQ2Yc2B5CRpva7uY2RhHShQACcCBMu XWaLxyc1d3iaXmuqFqi5SlY= =laHP -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

".pm." means a Packman package. I wonder why packman duplicates my work in Factory :( (My buildservice GPhoto/libmtp package has not been renamed yet.) Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

According to this: http://packman.links2linux.de/package/libmtp the packager is Pascal Bleser (guru), so maybe you should speak with him. why didn't you do this, your result from "smart query --requi..." below shows nothing but libmtp* and amarok ???
then do smart install amarok libmtp
and you should be good to go.

How to fix?
What can I tell you that I haven't already. You must remove the libtmp and amarok packages and then (re)install them to cleanly bypass/ correct the dependency errors. do you have a need for libmtp-devel and libmtp-tools (I think Not). smart remove libmtp* amarok smart install libmtp7 amarok ps. If you find that you *need* libmtp-devel and libmtp-tools, you will have to wait until Marcus renames libmtp\libmtp7 - -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.4-svn4472 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFHKONoClSjbQz1U5oRAsXRAJ4/SLdPnQAwQIUnfaXtVfMvAFBTJwCffnQy o6C1Z2rGstlpqr9HhNpLIuU= =hGZt -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
