I tried changing /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager parameter DEFAULT_WM to "kde" and restarting but that wasn't sufficient. Please point me to the proper HOWTO, article, etc. Thank you, Lucky Leavell

There is nothing at the bottom left (or anywhere else on the screen) except the login fields and a message window. I tried left and right clicking at various places to no avail.

It was there. I was hoping to find the configuration files I could edit manually to effect this before giving up and reinstalling from scratch. Hmmm, guess I should try a system repair first? Thank you, Lucky

Hello from Adam in New York: Go to: Yast->System->/etc/sysconig Editor. Desktop->Window Manager. Fix it and restart X.
