Hi,
This is a basis question. What is the difference from Suse Professional and Enterprise versions? If I download files from /pub/suse/8.1/ from mirror sites, what version I am going to get ? I am currently downloading 8.1.
I appreciate your help.
Thank You, Ravi Gandavarapu. (202) 906-4795

I've been having a devil of a time getting nVIDIA to work on my SuSE 8.1 system. Both NVIDIA_kernel and NVIDIA_GLX install without any problems, but when I run startx the screen goes dark and the only recovery seems to be to reboot.
Here's a section of the output from 3Ddiag:
Verifying 3D configuration based on XFree86 4 for 3D board "nVidia Corporation GeForce2 GTS (10de@0150)": Tests for package "NVIDIA_GLX": package ... done. package files ... done. Tests for package "NVIDIA_kernel": package ... done. package files ... done. Tests for correct OpenGL libraries/GLX extensions: Symbolic Links ... failed!
I suspect this may be the problem. What are the proper symbolic links?
Thanks in advance
Did you run 'SuSEconfig' after installing the drivers?

There is no E.Server version "of SuSE Linux 8.x". One is "SuSE Linux 8.x", the other one is "SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 8 Powered by United Linux 1.0" (www.unitedlinux.com). United Linux 1.0 happens to have been released after SuSE Linux 8.1 and since UL is produced by SuSE it happens to be rather similar on the ourside to 8.1, simply because why would we not use what we've already got, but the two product lines are completely independent. Please have a look at http://www.suse.com/us/business/products/server/sles/index.html You can download the SLES8 ISOs - if you're a SuSE Maintenance customer... which you become when you purchase a maintenance contract for at least 12 months (this is also included in any SLES purchase).
