kdebase latest version problem
Hello all: I don't know what these guys are doing at suse. I've just updated to the latest kde core packages (from 3.5.4- 42.1): kdebase3-3.5.4-64.1 kdebase3-kdm-3.5.4-64.1 kdebase3-session-3.5.4-64.1 kdebase3-extra-3.5.4-64.1 Now I get strange error messages when I want to open eg file manager. They come after each other: "There was an error loading the module Icon View. The diagnostics is: /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/konq_iconview.so: undefined symbol: _ZN6KParts16BrowserExtension12itemsRemovedERK8QPtrListl9KFileItemE" and the same messages with MultiColumn View, TreeView, Info List View, Detailed List View and Text View. When I start Start Menu/Run command/ksnapshot the background image disappears and is replaced by a black blank page. Last time they already messed up so kde-session could not start up aftert login. There are also minor problems (they are also present in the 3.5.4-42.1 version) like: The greeter does not show the background image but only a black blank screen. The greeter's theme is reset to an internal default (earlier it was preserved) during updates. I had to change back to 3.5.4-42.1. Fortunately I had them on my HD since from the repositories they are already removed (at least smart can't see them). I think SUSE people should be much more careful before releasing updates. I forgot to mention that this regards a SUSE 10.1 i386 system. _______________________________________________________________________ A világ gyors, de mi még gyorsabbak vagyunk! Az [origo] már mobilon is elérhető! http://origo.hu/adsminisites/mobil/index.html

You are using packages that are clearly described as experimental. The buildservice does *not* consist of official updates, you use it at your own risk.

And we often wonders what our users out there are doing... ;-)

Why do you think this will work without latest real core stuff (kdelibs3)?

They are not released, just automatically synced out once they are built. Bye, Steve
Thanks Steve,

Oh, you're right, I forgot kdelibs. However they should be involved in the update automatically as dependent packages. I used smart gui for the update and it did not check kdelibs when I selected kdebase-* packages.
