Clear Miniature Color 640x480 USB Keychain Digital Camera
http://www.compgeeks.com/details.asp?invtid=clr-sy-2107 Could something like this be made to work in *nix?? It mentions special software but I am looking for something really simple which I can directly plug in and download. Many of the cameras on the gphoto site are too expensive. CWSIV

If, _if_, the usb interface presents the 16mb memory as a disk drive, you are home free. ????? BUT, the add does not say and it does not list a manufacturer :*( -- Patrick Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 http://wahoo.no-ip.org @ http://counter.li.org HOG # US1244711

If it uses the USB mass storage protocol, it will be handled by Linux easily. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S. I haven't done the homework as to what's compatible, but for what I would consider very little money, you can get a heck of a lot more megapixels. For instance: a recent J&R catalog has the Olympus Camedia D390, with 2 MP, 1600x1200 resolution (I don't know why the resolution doesn't match the MP's) for $129.99. I have seen similar ads, and I think, even better pricing. J&R also shows Kodak CX6200 2MP at $99.99, and CX623o, with optical zoom, at $149.99. J&R is on the net at www.JR.com. Careful composition with even 1 MP can produce pretty nice 8 x 10 color printouts. A friend started early in the digital camera game, and really impressed me with his results with 1 MP res. At the prices that exist now, I would jump in, but I don't have anything I really want to take pictures of! --doug At 19:50 03/15/2004 -0800, Carl William Spitzer IV wrote:
