Any good avi --> mpeg converters?
Do any of you know of a good Linux program to convert avi's to mpeg's? I've seen a few but don't want to mess with something that's halfbaked. Thanks any opinions. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org The IQ and the life expectancy of the average American recently passed each other going in the opposite direction.

Thanks any opinions. :) Maybe Mplayer can do it??? If you have 8.2, you can try using the MainActor package that comes with it and use the Video Editor program to convert it.

My guess would be MPlayer's "mencoder." It took me a while to get the hang of it, but I've been making really nice divx compatible avi's with it. I know it can make mpeg files, I just haven't done it yet. Also worth looking into is ffmpeg - this is what mplayer/mencoder uses Hans
