Has anyone configured this card successfully with suse70? JK> Works within 1min. I have a 3c905x, and it was autodetected and runs fine lsmod shows 3c90x 20240 1 (autoclean)
What errors are you getting? <p> Mark mailto:mcr@reason-technology.com

Hi
I have several of these cards. I set one up in 5 minutes by using yast (under SuSE 6.1). Then, for some reason, it stopped working and hasn't worked since, even after a fresh install! The module gets loaded fine, and ifconfig gives a good output, although no network traffic van be sent to/from the card - not even pings.... Any suggestions???
Thanks,
Read the documentation for that NIC (3c90x) in /usr/src/kernel/Documents/network. There are some parameters you can use to adjust speed and full/halfduplex. If you run a 10Mbit network put it in halfduplex. On 100Mbit network fduplex is good if you have a switch or good hub and all other devices run in full-duplex

Hi, stupid question this:
My PC sits on the floor and ocasionally I accidently kick the reset button whilst it's switched on.
Sounds like a case for ReiserFS :)
Then, when SuSE restarts with a forced file check it looks okay, the only problem is that YaST 1 & 2 no longer work, they ask for the root password and then exit.
I have now disconnected the reset button.
This is a unique solution. Can you still log in as root? Any ideas? Matt
Move the PC to another location ?

I run plenty of them. Just make sure that they are not in PnP mode and use the default irq and io adresses. (I believe irq=10 and io=0x300). To get this done go to www.3com.com and get the drivers disk(s). On it is a configuration utillity (works in DOS) that you can use to to make it run in a non pnp mode. Also it is better to make sure that that nic is run in half-duplex mode. BB, Arjen
