[opensuse] Remote Administration (VNC) in YaST
I have got to ask, what is the purpose of supplying this module in YaST? It seems to be a very brain dead piece of software, IMHO! AFAIK there are 3 Xvnc services supplied by default under Xinetd and the Remote Administration tool only enables/disables one of these. And if one checks the box to open the ports in the firewall for doing remote administration, then iptables shows me that ports 5900-5999 were all opened!! Why??? That is just plain wrong on so many levels! IMHO either this module needs a lot of work done to support configuration of VNC servers or it ought to be removed. A half-ass implementation is a lot worse than no implementation because users will trust that the designers know what they are doing. Opening so many ports in the firewall, just to support a single (non-configurable) vnc service is not a good design. Which version of openSUSE are you using? I cannot find it in Leap or Tumbleweed.. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
