Below is the response I rec'd from nVidia. SuSE SHOULD have told us what to
do, but didn't. I wish I'd saved the command line options to get this to work
that were posted, but I didn't. I still think I'm going to get something
different when I buy a new video card - whenever that is.

Hi Fred. Again: what are the compiler errors? Could you please attach your /var/log/nvidia-installer.log file?
Thank you,
Sorry Andy.....it's late and I didn't think of that. It's attached.

it actually change on the morning of the day after the kernel update. I checked before doing the nvidia stuff and noticed the little change from what I had saved previously.
2) Use the nvidia installer.
export IGNORE_CC_MISMATCH=yes sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run
My system did compile when I executed the nvidia .run program, however, I've just got a black screen when I attempt to enable the 3D drivers. And I can't get my TFT monitor to display at all when attempting to execute SaX2. I just get a message from the monitor saying VGA mode not supported, even when using command line switches to start SaX2 up in low res mode. I was forced to swap monitors over with a machine that's not net connected and hasn't had the kernel updated yet. it would be nice if SaX2 could be started up in pure text mode or framebuffer with command line swithces so that those who can't even get a display up can make changes to try different monitor frequencies etc. ps Monitor is: Proview CY-565

What also would have been nice was to have edited the HOWTO to reflect the current state of affairs: the HOWTO states that the "latest" nVidia driver is 4363 which it isn't :-). -- Understanding only begins with the act of perception.

'Interesting that a lot of us didn't see that. Further, that it just didn't work right from the get go. Yes, I know....nVidia is very cooperative - we know that. Fred -- "...Linux, MS-DOS, and Windows XP (also known as the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly)."
