SuSE V8.0 arrived today - WOOO!
Can I just say that I love the way the professional edition is put together. Installation from the DVD went without a hitch. Excellent graphical bootup [my partner now wants it on her machine because of the eye candy plus ease of use!] and the bundling of KDE3 with it is awesome. Well done guys!

Yeah whats up with this? First they get to see Lord of the Rings first, not a few months later and they get 8.0 first LOL. At least got my shipping confirmation (how was it shipped, its not fedex nor ups...)? Matt PS Maybe I should emigrate back to the UK and drop thatb ex-pat stuff lol. But then again your every move in the UK is monitored by video tape.

Too true. And then transferred to CD. Do yourself a favour. Don't even consider going back to the land of fear. Meanwhile in Spain, the new shipments of SuSE 6.2 should be available by Xmas. In German only. Hope this makes you feel a bit better! Steve.
Hi all, I'm moving from 7.0 and had two quick questions for those "in the know" about the new 8.0 release. 1. Does LILO now support boot partitions above the 1024 demarcation? 2. Are winmodems supported "out of the box"? Cheers! Bill

Some Winmodems are supported..mainly Lucent Winmodems. You should check out this site. http://www.linmodems.org If it's supported (meaning your modem) then it will show up here and be true for every current version of Linux. You find a HUGE difference between 7.0 and 8.0 .. It's like going from Windows 95 1st release to Windows XP .. and maybe that's not such a great comparison, but you get my point. 7.0 is ancient things are a bit different. I understand not upgrading with each release. I, myself update every other release now and just do minor updates myself..such as KDE and the kernel. =============================== Yeah, but I hear the software they're using is from M$. I wouldn't worry ;o) Mike -- "Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells.
