Hello,
I wrote a mail earlier which bragged about how easy my switch to Linux was
this morning. However as soon as I went to send the mail I hit a problem.
Normally I am subscribed to this list with the address:
jsc_lists@rock-tnsc.com
My outgoing mail server is with another registered account: jethro@163bj.com
My outgoing mail server in KMail is setup for this and is: mail.163bj.com
I have a profile setup for mailing lists in KMail called "jsc lists" in which
my e-mail address is: jsc_lists@rock-tnsc.com. When I tried to post to this
list from KMail using this profile I got a failure notice back from the qmail
program at lists.suse.com. A copy of the header is attached below.
Am I doing something wrong? Or is this a feature (bug?) of KMail? This works
fine in Outlook 2000. Also in Outlook 2000 I can setup a separate smtp mail
server for each e-mail address. I can't see any way to do this KMail. I did
try in KMail setting up the rock-tnsc.com smtp mailserver but one I tried to
send mail it failed saying with error 550 saying that the header was
incorrect.
Anybody got any ideas? Could I solver my problem using postfix to pass on my
mail to my ISP's mailserver?
TIA,
Jethro

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at lists.suse.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

This last line is the offending line in the header. The qmail program at SuSE is picking up this address as the sender address, and since you're subscribed as jsc_lists@rock-tnsc.com and not jethro@163bj.com it doesn't allow the message. The solution would be to change the Sender: field to jsc-lists@rock-tnsc.com if you know how. Unfortunately I don't use kmail, so I can't tell you how :( Bye, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
I have the same problem on my Beast. I've checked the FQHOSTNAME and the FROM_HEADER. Strangely, when I signed the Beast onto the suse-e list the list sever accepts my registration and responded to my acceptance reply without a problem. It's just when I try to send to the list I have this problem. My Sony had a similar problem a couple of years ago when I signed on after a brief absence. They fixed it by doing something at their end. ??? JLK On Monday 02 April 2001 18:14, Jethro Cramp wrote:
