Problems saving screenshot's with PixiePlus SuSE 8.1
I'm trying to take (and save) a screenshot with this app. I take the screenshot but when i try to save it, i get an error box saying "Error! Continue?". I can't get past this. Even in my home directory. So it can't be permissions. I've tried all the available image types listed but still no show. I've not altered the programm as installed from the Suse DVD. Has anybody got any ideas? Are you sure it's not already running? Type typing: rcsshd status SuSE will start sshd by default on bootup if you have it installed. The keys are autogenerated on first start.. -- Peter Nixon http://www.peternixon.net/ PGP Key: http://www.peternixon.net/public.asc

Hi Clifford, It looks like you also have to select the format of the picture (i.e.,jpg gif bmp, etc) using the filter box in the save dialouge. hth Ken

Hi Clifford,
It looks like you also have to select the format of the picture (i.e.,jpg gif bmp, etc) using the filter box in the save dialouge.
You also need to add the correct extension to the filename! Then you get the dialog for image properties. Dylan -- "Sweet moderation Heart of this nation Desert us not, we are Between the wars"

Actually, it is more annoying than that -- I'm guessing you are NOT supplying the "three-letter-extension" in the file you are trying to save, presuming "the program will add it for you" -- I made that mistake at first, even dropping down to the "filter" box and changing it from "all image formats" to "png" specifically, but still got the general "error! continue?" dialog box. I guess this is a case of "standards gone wild", but I think the root cause is the graphics library itself -- I noticed in the source code for the "picture box" component of Kylix that it is based on some library code somewhere; being that this was the "open source" version, said source of library was included, and digging through that showed that the load/save routines RELIED on the three-letter-extension [umm, this is "unix", folks -- we have this neat little file called /etc/magic that helps do away with that particular microsoft-ism, but I digress...] If indeed pixie is using the same library [very likely...] then it is quite likely the "error" is being generated by the library because it doesn't "know" what format you intend to save the picture as if you do NOT supply a three-letter extension... [the "library" doesn't include a parameter to specify the format as part of the "save to file" call, hence the reliance on the TLE...]
