Re: [SLE] Kernel version and how to activate?

If the md5sum on the k_athlon-2.4.19-66 you downloaded is the same as the md5sum of k_athlon-2.4.19-167.i586.rpm here, then I suspect that SuSE may have released the fix without increasing the rpm version number, realized their mistake, withdrew it and put k_athlon-2.4.19-167 in its place, but not before the mirror you went to to get k_athlon-2.4.19-66 had mirrored it. [snip] aed0723745801c681b3afdd974f0b787 ./rpm/i586/k_athlon-2.4.19-167.i586.rpm d0de536c8a1674e985a58e5c6db5185b ./i586/k_athlon-2.4.19-66.i586.rpm [snip] I hope this clears things up for you -- if the md5sums agree with k_athlon-2.4.19-167 you are probably set (except of course that Yast, YOU and rpm are going to screwed up from now on when it comes time to update the kernel unless you go to the trouble of getting the version right.)
Uh duh, I just realized that the md5sums will be different any way because the rpm will contain the version number in it -> make the test be that if the version of k_athlon-2.4.19-66 you downloaded is NOT the same as the version on the DVD/CD (verified using md5sum or diff), then the above version renaming mistake MAY well have happened. (They also could have made the mistake of not fixing the bug as well :-)
