[SLE] setting up a VPN
I need to setup a VPN between my network and a friend's Windows machine on the other side of the state. Can someone point me to some good documentation as to how to setu p a VPN. Ideally I would like my friend to be able to plug into the VPN with simply his Windows box. Hello, Sam. I am currently looking into this at work to support our "Road Warriors". We are looking at using FreeS/WAN on a Linux box in the office, and the PGP VPN client on the various Windows boxes. There's lots of useful info here... http://jixen.tripod.com/ http://www.pgp.com/products/dtop-security/default-vpn.asp http://web.mit.edu/network/WhatsNewWin.html Bye for now, Stuart. -----Original Message----- From: root@one.net [mailto:root@one.net]On Behalf Of Sam Carleton Sent: Saturday, October 21, 2000 9:08 AM To: SuSE Mailing List Subject: [SLE] setting up a VPN I need to setup a VPN between my network and a friend's Windows machine on the other side of the state. Jon, I quickly looked at the documentation on freeSwan, does it support a Windows machine directly connecting into it? Sam Jon Doyle wrote:

Sam, Due to crypto restrictions, FrreS/WAN is not included in the US distro of SuSE. You'll need to pull it down from the German ftp site ftp://ftp.suse.de. Burrow down through pub into the suse7 folder, and you'll find it along with ssh and other such goodies in the sec1 folder. As for connecting a Win98 box, look back at the links I sent you earlier. Much better (as they have *much* more bandwith) is ftp.gwdg.de. You'll find
the security stuff in
ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/suse/ftp.suse.de/suse/i386/7.0/sec1

So where can I find it from non-US version of SuSE 7 Pro? Which CD? Dennis @Singapore

Sorry, Dennis, I'm based in the US myself. Does anyone out there with a non-US version know which CD it is on ? Mind you, as a download, it's not that big, so if you don't get an answer to this soon, then you might just be better off going and pulling the RPM off the ftp server. It's in the "sec1" series, whatever CD that's on. If you're doing it
through Yast it should not be a problem.
