Hi I am planning to set up an Apache box with SSL functionality. Does anyone have any experience with this? I know there is a difference between mod_ssl and Apache-SSL, so which do you recommend and why? What are the critical steps involved in enabling SSL functionality on a web site? mod_ssl is a module, and Apache-SSL is built-in. You need to read the docs and the various sites to see the pros-and-cons. The basic steps: Generate a self-certified certificate and edit your httpd.conf to enable it. -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
