Sometime ago I called for help to turning on the MP3, MTV etc sound in Gnome. With the direction given, now it is playing MP3 with double click on the file. BUT! I can't stop it...! there is no player shown in the task bar (or whatever you call it) and the only way to stop the music is to exit gnome totally? What is wrong again? anyone get any idea? I assume, the GNOME file manager is invoking the command line MP3 player mpg123 in the background. If you do not see some kind of GUI to stop the player, try to run "killall mpg123" in a shell. Your process list should also give you a hint which task is running in the background. Yes, it is doing this. GMC is not the best way to play mp3's unless you associate XMMS or something like it with the files. If you do..then xmms will popup and you can actually have something to work with.

I think this is a 'feature'? Personally, I rather prefer it not to play without a proper associated player than cannot stop. :) Dennis @Singapore player

Well, I would suggest not having it associated with anything then. :)
