[opensuse] opensuse updater applet on 11.0 -- won't
Listmates, The good old reliable opensuse updater applet with libzpp backend is now broken (/usr/bin/opensuseupdater-kde) and has been for several weeks. (1) It shows you have updates, you choose to install the updates - then it doesn't do anything, no install no nothing (yes I selected all) (2) You then install with 'zypper up', and the updater still shows all the updates as "needing to be installed" even if you tell the intelligent little thing to "check now", it still says the updates need to be installed. It remains so until you log out and log back in and then it goes back to green. I mean what good is an updater applet that won't update anything, and then can't figure out that what it says needs to be updated is already installed?? What gives? Can someone else confirm this behavior before I bug it? Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Confirmed. How tedious! -- We're sitting on four million pounds of fuel, one nuclear weapon and a thing that has two hundred thousand moving parts built by the lowest bidder. -- "Rockhound" in the movie 'Armageddon' -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I haven't had time to look into it further. mike -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Yeah. I told it to install the update, I got asked for the root password, then after a few seconds the icon went back to the red triangle ("updates are available").

I haven't tried that.
I did try getting the update via YOU, and *it* says the update is broken.

Hi, If I'm not wrong updater applet skip unresolvable conflicts silent. So if you have to choose from resolving methods then updater applet will do nothing according to that update. In this case you should update with software manager, I think. I don't have problems with updater applet under 11.0, but I use it just to notification, than I install patches by YOU and updates by software manager. Updater applet doesn't show enough information to me, for example installed and avail version and so on. Btw a zypper refresh could help.
