[SLE] Install forcing / partition to 500M
I have a system with 2 9gig IDE disks and 1 IDE cdrom. For some reason, once suse formats the partitions, it creates root as 500m instead 8gig like designated. I have tried several different partition setups, like these: DISK1 (in cylinder order) /boot 200m / 8.0gig /var 600M DISK 2 swap 256M /usr 8.5gig DISK 1 / 7.5g (under 1024 cylinders) /var 600M DISK 2 swap 256M /usr 8.5g DISK 1 swap 256M / 7.0gig (under 1024 cylinders) /var 600M DISK 2 /usr 8.5g All partitions get created correctly except /. I have tried several other configurations in addition to these to no avail. Every screen in the install process lists the partitions correctly, however, when the packages start getting installed, I switch to another console and perform a df, it shows /mnt as 500m, /mnt/usr 8.5gig, etc... It is simply not creating the / partition correctly regardless of it's size and location. Any ideas? Hi Chuck, Those may well be the YaST2 interpretation and it's measures. If you boot as to have YaST(1) in control, as it was till SuSE 6.3, when YaST2 appeared, then you can custom install at your will. But it will not give you instant [/boot], [/], swaps and all other, automagically. You must work it for your self. Take into account that [/boot] do not need to be bigger than 20Mb, and it must be first, on _cylinder_ order, and also on _hda_ as hda1, hda2, etc., but contained completely on the first 1024 cyls boundary on the disk. Other partitions do not need to be arranged this way, because as you already know, this is a _lilo_ feature only, and when ever you boot the Kernel, it's FS modules will access partitions as it must with out the limit.. ---- Chuck Carson wrote:
