[opensuse] vboxdrv.ko missing for kernel 3.11.10-7-desktop
I've been using the desktop kernel on 13.1. Yesterday I used Yast2 to apply an kernel update to bring me to kernel 3.11.10-7-desktop. VirtualBox stopped working after the upgrade. It seems there are no vbox modules for this kernel. Does anyone know what's going on? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Regards,
I already tried that - I don't think it does anything because I'm using a packaged version of VirtualBox... kosmos1:~ # /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup Recompiling VirtualBox kernel module, NOT. I think I'm missing the package for virtualbox-host-kmp-desktop-4.2.18_k3.11.10_*
Before upgrading I was using virtualbox-host-kmp-desktop-4.2.18_k3.11.6_4-2.5.1
This should not have been happening, the KMPs should have continued to work. Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I still only see virtualbox-host-kmp-desktop-4.2.18_k3.11.6_4-2.5.1.x86_64 and reinstalling these does not help. I've sidelined kernel-desktop-3.11.10-7.1.x86_64 and reinstalled kernel-desktop-3.11.6-4.1.x86_64. That will work for now. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, Actually I was wrong, the KMP magic we had up to now no longer works with 13.1. We will be releasing all KMPs contained in 13.1 built for the current kernel soonish. Interesting. I updated kernel and nVidia driver still works. I wonder if it gets automatically rebuilt (official RPM install, no DKMS in use). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

It says "3.11.6" so looks like it is module built for older kernel. filename: /lib/modules/3.11.10-7-desktop/weak-updates/updates/nvidia.ko alias: char-major-195-* version: 331.38 supported: external license: NVIDIA ... vermagic: 3.11.6-4-desktop SMP preempt mod_unload modversions -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Ciao, Marcus Glad I read my mail before starting install of new kernel. I'll wait until updates are available. Will you announce it here?
