[opensuse] KDE crashing bug not fixed in openSUSE
I get hit by the following crashing bug almost every time I log out: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275286 I usually just click ‘Close’ and be done with it, but this I decided to let DrKonqi figure out if it was a known bug. And it turned out to be *very* well known, with tons of duplicate reports. And apparently fixed. But not in openSUSE. One of the more recent comments in the bug is: There is no need for intermediate fixes as this has been properly fixed for a while by now, just look at the bug status. For some reason the fix doesn't get shoved to the distros, therefore we still see bug reports from Ubuntu and SuSe. It feels like distros want to display KDE in the worst possible light (and KDE doesn't miss a chance to help them). So my question is *why* doesn’t a bug like this get into openSUSE? (This is not meant as a rhetorical question; I’m genuinely interested in the answer.) -- Karl Ove Hufthammer E-mail: karl@huftis.org Jabber: huftis@jabber.no -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

The bug is in. What do you need more? You might like to get the fix included. ;) I would check bugzilla.novell.com (bnc) for <insert here the openSUSE version you see this issue with> the same issue and if it isn't reported yet there too. Please ensure to add references to: a) https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=275286 b) this thread from inside the list archive at http://lists.openSUSE.org/opensuse/2011-12/msg01183.html c) qute the bnc ID here Thanks Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Thanks. Got moved to https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736725 and I suggested to shift KDE of openSUSE 12.1 to 4.7.4. See the question raised with comment #7. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

A bug has to be reported to openSUSe in order to include a fix which was not in the upstream KDE release openSUSE ships. If you read the bug report you quoted it states: fixed in 4.7.4 and openSUSE 12.1 ships 4.7.2. Maybe https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=736725 is of interest to you.
