[SLE] [Slightly OT] Linux on Sparc
Hi guys, Time to tap your knowledge again... Is it possible to run SuSE on a Sun Sparc machine (I don't know if there is a version for that platform). If not (or even if so) do you know which is the best distro to use on a Sparc? It's not me that has the Sparc - it's a friend's. ;-) Thanks a lot, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\ -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

AFAIK only Redhat support a proper Linux distribution for the Sparc platform. Try Redhat 6.1 from www.redhat.com. No, not yet.

I must admit, that I have used Red Hat on an old Sparc 10 about three years ago. It worked pretty well. :)

If not (or even if so) do you know which is the best distro to use on a Sparc? Yes, there is RedHat for Sparc!! Two years ago I've installed myself on a Sparc RedHat 4.2. It works fine. I don't know if SuSE has something for Sparc...
