hi all. i am new on linux. i just made a couple of installations and php programs. right now i am wondering wich distro to use on my laptop. it has a sis 630 chipset (audio and video), so i checkout the suse hardware support databse and it says it's support. i just wanna know if somebody here uses it.

To be honest here, I have no idea as I have never had a laptop. But I am sure someone here will eventually give you advice on this. So, you're new to Linux, how are you finding it so far? Matt

I am not positive but I think I had an install that did use it back aruond 7.2.

Hi Frank, The only way I managed to get the SIS 630 chipset to work properly with LCD displays on SuSE 7.1 was via the frame buffer. Normal CRT displays work OK without the frame buffer but LCD's will not work (black screen). Please refer to the following article.
