Why is it that every time I try to update using Yast2 I either get a server error, file missing, or server timeout. I have tried all the servers listed... Nothing seems to work. I've wondering if this is the correct way to keep my system updated, please advise what I need to do to get my updates. I've tried at all times of the night and day...
Hi, I had the same Problem! Create the file /var/lib/YaST/update.inf and add following: --------------------snip--------------------------------- # /var/lib/YaST/update.inf -- (c) 1998 SuSE GmbH # Basesystem: SuSE-Linux-Professional-DE-i386-7.3.0#0 Distribution_Name:SuSE-Linux-Professional-DE-i386 Distribution_Version:7.3.0 Distribution_Release:0 --------------------snip--------------------------------- correct your distribution version accordingly cya Darko

To change the topic a bit, is there a way to automate updates with yast1? I don't have X running on my system as it is a server, not a client machine. On Wednesday, December 19, 2001, at 05:01 PM, Palic, Darko wrote:

I tried this but Yast2 hangs as id d/loads the first file ...NVIDIA-patch...Where does Yast2 store these files before it installs them ??..I want to make sure it is clear before I retry the d/load -- Regards Ted Wager SuSE Linux7.3
Hi, the pachtes are downloaded to /var/lib/YaST/patches/i386/update. I had a similar problem and I fixed it by deleting all files in what folder, but all patches will be installed again!
