[opensuse] Nvidia driver problem
Hallo People! I have installed my new laptop with Opensuse 13.1 x86_64 and i saw in the hardware specs, that my Nvidia Geforce Gm 750 grafic card was not found. Beside i couldn´t play videos of different formats. So i thought, that there is something wrong with my grafic driver. I downloaded the right driver for my system from the nvidia driver suppurt and tried to install the driver in text-konsole-mode. In the end there came out an error. I´m now able to start my laptop about every second time. And when i startup there occurs a video failure (lines and stuff like that int the starting screen of opensuse ..). IS it possible to reinstall the old drivers or maybe to fix the problems with the native nvidia driver? – Of course without doing a full reinstall of OS... Help is need – Thx a lot in advance! Good night – Benjamin D. How can i post in the correct way the Log-File from /var/log/nvidia-installer.log? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Hi Benjamin If you have loooooong log files etc that you want to refer to in your email, you will want to use something like susepaste http://paste.opensuse.org/ or PasteBin http://pastebin.com/ This way people can go and look at your log files and they don't have to wade through 310km of email :-) You didn't state what exact model of laptop you have. Are you 100% sure it has a separate NVidia video card? Are you 100% sure it is NOT an NVidia Optimus configuration? I kind of suspect that it is an Optimus since you said that your NVidia card was not found. That is typical with Optimus. I'd guess that you are running completely on the Intel video card. If this is the case, you cannot (at this point) install the NVidia drivers and expect the NVidia card to magically be found and start working. If... if you have Optimus, you will need to use Bumblebee http://smithfarm-thebrain.blogspot.cz/2013/10/opensuse-131-nvidia-optimus-bu...
