Please help. I have Samba running but have to start it manually whenever I boot Linux. I realize the following two daemons have to be run... /usr/sbin/smbd /usr/sbin/nmbd ...but am unsure how to run these automatically at startup. From research I understand these should be started, stopped, and restarted from the startup script located in... /etc/init.d/smb ...and symlinked to the appropriate run levels. I've found documentation that describes all these steps my problems and questions are the following... Question: The documentation provides a script that should be added to the /etc/init.d/smb script but it doesn't say where. Should I just append it to the end of the script? Problem: The scripts and samples provided in the documentation I've found do not appear to be for my Suse 8.1 distribution because files referenced in the sample script are not in the stated locations. For example, in the sample startup script it has the following... #Source function library. . /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions The /etc/init.d/functions does not exist either. Does anyone have the procedures / scripts for Suse 8.1? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Matt

Load up yast2 and under the system tab is an icon called "Runlevel Editor". Use this function to start / stop services on startup. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
