[opensuse] lirc daemon fails to start
Perhaps I am not understanding something but I am having troubles getting the lirc daemon to start in SuSE11.1 I have the lirc module installed and I have the lircd.conf configuration file installed in /etc as I have been instructed. (I am using the Hauppauge 350PVR IR card and I understand that all the necessary driver support is now automatically included within the kernel) When I attempt to start the lirc daemon via the YaST System Services (Runlevel) manager I get an error message saying "start returned 6 (program is not configured)" which after looking at the script file, that starts the lirc daemon, this seems to be a somewhat generic and misleading error message. Starting the lirc daemon from a console - "rclirc start" gives a bit more info saying "Error no device found" Looking for /dev/lirc or even /dev/input/ir indeed shows there is no such device(s) being defined. So I am at my limits in understanding what is happening? Can someone tell me what needs to be done to at least get the devices for lirc created? I have googled, read the documentation at LIRC's website (not that I comprehend all of it) and am not finding any answers other than it appears others are having similar difficulties... Many thanks in advance... Marc... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
