As root, I can play CD's with no problem. As user, the drive runs, and the seconds tick off on the CD-Player window, but no sound comes out. Volume control on the app is set at a reasonable level. How do I fix this?
fstab: /dev/cdrom /cdrom auto ro,noauto,user,exec 0 0
The entry in /etc/fstab is actually not relevant for playing audio CD's, because the CD is not mounted while playing. /dev/cdrom is most likely a link to some other device node. Try ls -l /dev/cdrom and then send us the output of ls -l /dev/XXX (replace XXX with whatever /dev/cdrom was pointing to) <p>Regards Ole
