Since I love SuSE as an OS and not as a girlfriend or uncle, I don't have an emotional attachment like some do. This is my fourth distro. I've moved on from others when they didn't innovate or conduct themselves in a business-like fashion, so I've learned not to get any more attached to it than I would my favorite wrench. As long as suse makes a good product, I'll keep buying it but my world doesn't depend on it. It's a tool.
That's exactly the point. Tools, especially computers, often take time to migrate from. So the reason some of us are concerned about the possibility of them abandoning their core product, changing the licensing on it, etc. is because even if we also have used 4 or 5 or X other distros it's a pain in the but to have to switch again. If I have to switch again, I'm probably going to FreeBSD. At least there's some stability there. Preston

I can see this point to some extent, especially if you encounter problems getting security updates. But really, all your software should still work. I guess it just wasn't a big deal for me. It took a while to learn how the new distro's gui tools work, but the underlying system is never that different. I could edit my config files to get what I wanted while I learned Yast, which didn't take long. John S.
