[opensuse] How to change repo priorities in Opensuse 10.3
Hi all, this is my second request. I sure could use some help here. The recent thread about Firefox versions being updated, i.e. (no pun intended) version 3.0.12 trying to update over 3.5.2 had me looking to change the repository priorities in my 11.1 install, not problem there. But I don't see a similar option on my 10.3 install. Is there a way to do this on 10.3. I'm running KDE 3.5 using yast2. Many thanks, Jim F -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No, there is no repository priority functionality in openSUSE 10.3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Thanks Cristian, not what I wanted to hear, but at least I know. Is there a way to tell the updater applet to ignore a particular app, say Firefox 3.0? Many thanks, Jim F -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

package locks do not really work in that version, you have to upgrade. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You can lock it in yast2. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

yes, but does not really work.
Wouldn't locking it (assuming it did work) prevent further updates? Or, to think this thru for a minute, I'm not getting automatic notifications to update Firefox 3.5.x anyway (10.3 install), so by locking it does that (or should that) prevent the opensuse updater from showing updates to any version of Firefox? I could continue updating manually as I'm doing now? Jim F -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

(Sorry I forgot to Reply to All) Hi, on my openSUSE 10.3 I upgraded to Firefox 3.0.13 in preference to 3.5.x by simply selecting it under the Versions tab in the right-hand lower pane in YaST. In YaST, select a repo in the left column, select Firefox in the top right pane, and look down across the tabs in the lower right pane - Description, Technical Data, Dependencies, etc., and select Versions. Click the radio button for the version you want. YaST complained about dependencies to me but up/downgrading of related Mozilla apps solved it. There is also a legacy Mozilla repo for openSUSE 10.3 - a search here will find it: http://packages.opensuse-community.org/. Hope this helps, M.R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Are you saying you changed from Firefox 3.5.x to 3.0.x? I suppose I could do that, but I prefer to keep 3.5.x. It probably makes little difference, I plan to update this machine soon. I was going to update it to opensuse 11.1, but decided to wait until 11.2 is final and out. So, I guess I can live with the little red triangle staring at me for a few more months. Thanks though. Jim F I see your problem now. No, I didn't feel like upgrading to 3.5 just yet but did upgrade to 3.0.13 because of a security advisory from Mozilla. M.R. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Chaning the repo priority had no effect on my 11.0/x64 box. I still have the opensuse-updater icon claiming I need to install Firefox 3.0.13 when I have 3.5.2 installed......So maybe it doesn't work in 11.0 either. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
