Hi all.. I was given a UPS box (APC Smart-UPS 600). I have everything but the control cable for it. (Does anyone have a cable they don't need?) Do I need this control cable? What if I use the box without it? Have a look at the apcupsd site in the manual they cover cables for the APC UPS. See http://www.sibbald.com/apcupsd/3.8manual/cables.html -- Regards, Graham Smith ---------------------------------------------------------
The cable you want is the 940-0024C. You don't need it to use the UPS, but if you want your machine to shutdown cleanly on a power failure, then it's a good idea. Use apcupsd mentioned below and it will work just fine. Graham Smith wrote:

Hi, I am running SuSe 8.1 and so far I am not able to perform the automatic on-line update. Any ideas what is wrong? It either hangs or fails. Second - I just added an ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon 7500 video card. Between that and eliminating the ide-scsi on my DVD, I now get some decent dvd video. So far I am not able to access/configure the TV card section of it. Eventually I want to enable the record from input feature but that is later, one miracle at a time. Before you spend a lot of effort finding or building a cable (like I did) I would first check into what the capabilites are for your UPS. I found my APC UPS was pretty dumb and not worth dealing with. -- +----------------------------------------------------------------------------+ + Bruce S.
