My /var directory filled up, unbeknownst to me, making it impossible
for postfix to send or deliver mail for a couple of hours. My
question: what flag will fetchmail send my ISP's popserver in this
condition, i.e. will I have lost mail?
TIA

Something similar happened to me when I first set up my mail server. I had misconfigured things, so fetchmail couldn't send to local recipient (it was bounced). At that time, fetchmail will have already received the mail from POP and, if so configured, will have deleted it in POP as well. So, yes, any mail that came while /var was full are probably lost (unless fetchmail has become more intelligent in the past two or so years. I don't think so) Regards Anders On Tuesday 19 June 2001 21:45, Corvin Russell wrote:

I am installing SuSE 6.4 on my system with an Adaptec 2940 and DPT raid controller installed. Booting from disk and loading modules everything goes ok, detects all hardware without error that I know off. My CD-rom, CD-RW, Zip, and scanner are on my Adaptec card My 2 hard drives are arrayed on my DPT card. My problem is this. Transferring of files is extremely slow. When installing the default packages the first 5 will copy fast then the system will appear to hang for 3-5 minutes then quickly write the next batch of 5 or so packages. My thoughts are this - for some reason the system is very slowly filling the controller cache which then writes the data to disk then slowly fills the cache again. But basically, I have no idea what to do. I am a Linux newbie but can follow How-To's well =) so please if you know a fix (should I be specifying some parameters when loading modules?) please be painfully clear. Any help is appreciated. Mick Pasted below is response from SuSE support.
I've tried to retrive some information on your enquiry, but unfortunately no one responded to my mails.
So I can only give you the general answer that is is possible to use two diffent adapters. If your adapters are still supported from the modules, they should work. Please understand that it is not possible from the knowledge I have to confirm that it will work.

SMP system? If that is the case check to see about the driver version and update it. SuSE 6.4 did have a lot of good modules for RAID, but with the changes in these over the last year I recommend getting a fresh 7.2 box. Regards, Jon On Tue, 19 Jun 2001, Mick Campbell wrote:

Thanks for the quick reply.
Please forgive the long post - is a <snip> from the SuSE Support Database.
