Hi all: I'm happy with my hand-me-down 8.0 Professional, but I'm curious if downloading off the ftp server 8.1 would be worth my while. Or should I just wait until 8.2 is downloadable....? Tks. TBissell

Probably better off waiting for the 8.2 ftp, since it'll have the fixes done for 8.1 (which IMHO, had a bit too many problems compared to 8.0, at least as I could tell from the list here). When 8.1 came out, there wasn't anywhere near the amount of 'praise' and 'things are working great' as there already are for 8.2 (this is also just how *I've* seen it). Waiting too, will let you hear even more 'it's working' or 'it's not working' stories, which you can then save the 'solutions' for, and be ready with when you do download the ftp version. I was running 8.0 on this box and well..8.2 is quite a bit faster and everything just looks and feels better..even KDE 3.1.1 which I was running on 8.0. My vote is to upgrade. I think it's better then 8.0 by a long shot. Also, I've tried ext3 this time around instead of ReiserFS and I like it. It seems to be quite fast and I've been moving HUGE files around and it's quite peppy. :) All in all we have a winner.. It's much better then 8.1 was out the door. latah, -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.
