If you use YaST, under Productivity/Publishing/TeX/Base You'll need te_tex and probably te_latex. LaTeX is a lot easier than TeX. -- JDL

Where is TeX? Additionally you could install kile. It's an editor for LaTex. You will find the docs here: /usr/share/texmf/doc/newhelpindex.html
