[opensuse] KWeather How-To
I've googled and cannot seem to find a valid resource. I would like to have KWeather running in my kpanel/kicker/taskbar thingy area. I used to have it under 9.3 - 10.2. Here's one of my 10.1 systems back in April 2007 with the weather listed in the bottom right. http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/2007/20070516_suse101_desktop.jpg I'm currently running 10.3 / KDE 3.5x on a few machines. I right-click on the kicker and select "add applet" as I did in previous versions. However, there is no weather option. In YaST, the only result for a search of "weather" brings up kde4-kweather. Trying to run kde4-kweatehr or kweather does nothing. I found this exchange from the archives discussing the issue but no resolution: http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse/2007-10/msg01213.html In the discussion, jweber states, "Colour me really confused, do you mean you want to run the KDE4 Kweather applet instead of the one that is for 10.3?" The OP didn't answer, but I'll state upfront that there is no other weather applet listed other than kde4-kweather. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

On my 10.3 kweather is in the kdetoys3 package. (Did you check the box "RPM Provides" when searching?) -- Don -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ahh, buried in the kdetoys package.

No... ...I assumed that just showed the files included, which are a bunch of .so and like files. Will do from now on. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

http://www.perfectreign.com/stuff/suse/2007/20070516_suse101_desktop.jpg Back in the day, there was that as well as a Karamba/SuperKaramba applet that did weather. Searching I found this: http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Liquid+Weather+%2B%2B?content=6384
Not what you wanted but it works on KDE3. I also found this: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/Qweather+?content=76343 which seems closer to what you are looking for. Ahh, I remember the superkaramba applet. I didn't care for it, because it requires seeing the desktop. Similar to Vista - I took that thing out. -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
