[opensuse] Adding static IP-Address to network interface
Hi, how can I add an additional static IP-Address to my network interface (next to the one I get from DHCP) if I am in a specific network? Currently I do the following: When I go to work I connect my laptop to the network and then I get an IP-Address. Then I become root and add an address via ifconfig eth0:1. After about 10 minutes the network subsystem decided to reinitialize itself and eth0:1 vanishes. I add the address for eth0:1 again. The setup is now stable for the whole day. Now I want to configure the network subsystem such that each time I am in the network at work next to the DHCP address a second static one is configured. How is this possible? I think you need to look at the custom ifup/down scripts in /etc/sysconfig.network/. You could also try adding IP_ADDR2=n.n.n.n in the /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-<nic> file, but I don't know if that'll work. /Per -- /Per Jessen, Zürich -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
