I did a network install of 9.0. Followed the instructions, but got the networking info first, and what I needed to load in terms of NIC modules. That was the biggest problem I had, and not difficult at that. Mike
Well folks, It always jams at Software Selection - Cannot read package data from installation media. Media Error ? * Error: No proposal. All that I found on the archives was in relation to SLES 9 or versions < 9.0 that is not applicable to V9.0. Any ideas ? Luis James Knott wrote:

Anecdote rather than solution, but this did happen to me with SuSE 9.0, or 9.1, can't remember. I swapped out the CDROM drive just to see, and thereafter got a working installation. However I'm not convinced the original CDROM was actually a dud, and wondered if the CDs were burned in a particularly finicky way, or that somehow the OS was not controlling the CD drive quite right. It still skips when playing back music, on CDs that are known good elsewhere. Best Fergus

I boot with boot.iso, and at the boot-prompt I enter: install=http://10.0.0.1/pub/suse/i386/9.0 On the server 10.0.0.1, the directory /srv/www/htdocs/pub/suse/9.0 is a copy of ftp://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/suse/i386/9.0 If you have the DVD, then the 9.0 directory should be a copy of the DVD. You can use mount /media/dvd mount --bind /media/dvd /srv/www/htdocs/pub/suse/9.0 to publicize the entire DVD without copying. Cheers, Leen
