3.01 is even faster, unless that is the one you have been using.
On my computer, konq is slower, maybe this is due to my graphic driver. What is your graphic card anyway? Another think is that konqueror (again, on my computer) is poor when displaying webpages with a lot of animation (javascript or animated gif). It consume a lot of CPU percentage (usuallly around 60%), thus slowing GUI (mouse) response. I've compared with Mozilla 1.0, and Mozilla handle such pages much2 better. And speaking about konq/mozilla, why the true type fonts are rendered larger than in windows for the same size? For example, verdana 8 is konq/mozilla linux is larger than verdana 8 in ie? -- Verdi March --

I usually don't argue with anyone on this list, 1)because I'm too new to argue about anything and 2) I have waaaay too much other stuff to do. (most of you know me for asking silly questions). But when I saw this posting, I had to reply....not really argue. I think I was the one that initially posted that question about a week ago. I noticed that Konqueror was slower than IE on my two machines. I have 2 dual boot machines. I thought I had a setting wrong somewhere....I still do. In regards to the below quote, are you stating that I'm "wrong" and that what I've experienced is not true? I'm a newbie (1yr) to Linux, but not to a computer, and after using IE for years, then moving to Linux, I definately see a difference. I'm sure it's a setting somewhere like with the cache management. If you disagree to the philosophy, that's one thing and I would hope you're right, but if you're implying that I'm wrong about Konq being slower than IE "on MY machine" then you are making a big mistake. BTW, if anyone has an idea why Konq is running slower (by this I mean pulling down web pages and not launching) please let me know. Toodles! I have been using Linux for 2.5 years now, but that's strange however. My machine with a "faster" konqueror is a laptop p3 1133, and I have noticing that it is faster than IE on the same machine. Moreover some friends of mine have been surfing here in my laptop and they confirmed my impression (konqueror is fast). I do not know your settings, but I know that mine are default. And I am using Kde3 on Suse 8.0. I have tried it on other machines and I have not seen any notable difference.
