Re: SOLUTION - Re: [SLE] gcc problem with suse8.2
Hi, So the gcc compiler could have problems under this particular hardware config: "AMD Athlon XP PC with VIA KTxxx chipset" ? That might be the problem then ! Anyway I successfully compiled *with gcc-3.3.1-0: lyx-13.2 postgresql-7.3.4 ssh-3.2.5 *with gcc-2.95: ssh-1.3.2 There were reports that you could not compile ssh-1.3.2 from ssh.com using gcc-3.3.1- Yes it is correct. Maybe ssh.com does not support their code, ssh-1.3.2, with the new gcc compiler. therefore a solution is to use gcc-2.95 as stated under SuSE FAQ: http://dinamizm.ath.cx/compiling.html I would be glad to see SuSE to include the old compiler under future distributions ! Anyone from SuSE comments on this ? Regards, Stefan On Monday 25 August 2003 13:36, StarLett Ltd (Andrei Verovski) wrote:
Hihttp://dinamizm.ath.cx/compiling.html, Ernesto,
I guess you have AMD Athlon XP PC with VIA KTxxx chipset. Correct me if I am wrong.
This is random but well known issue with this chipset. To be precise, not even the chipset but m/b with poor power supply filters which seem to cannot handle high power consumption peaks, leading to data corruption.
You have to replace your m/b, better with AMD761 chipset.
