[opensuse] Compiz XGL and NVIDIA (without AIGLX)
Before I begin, I did follow numerous wiki pages on XGL/AIGLX and compiz - most of them assume you are going to use AIGLX when running NVIDIA hardware. I had compiz installed (from instructions on the opensuse wiki pages), using AIGLX and closed NVIDIA driver. Worked great. After reading that XGL may be faster that AIGLX, I tried to get it to work. Installed xgl, removed Composite from xorg, and enabled xgl with gnome-xgl-switch. But after a afternoon of fiddling it just didnt want to work. So, I disabled compiz (touch the file in ~/.config/compiz/compiz-disable), removed the Autostart fusion-icon link in .kde/Autostart. But this morning after a reboot (I usually suspend to disk) I have XGL/compiz running? Where is it started from? I guess somewhere in gnome world (I run KDE). Btw, it runs lightning fast, much faster than AIGLX (is this a driver issue, Im on the laterst stable nvidia driver). Ok, great, so that disables the startup of compiz and kde-windows-decorator. Lets say I now actually like having XGL (instead of AIGLX, because its now usable) where can I find the startup parameters that are passed to compiz? It starts with "gconf" - I prefer "ccp". ccp is enough, or even better run compiz-manager, which takes care of
all

Sorry, I/you dont understand? After enabling with gnome-xgl-switch, compiz starts-up automagically at login, with some undesirable parameters. I want compiz to startup with ccp not gconf? (Its also got all kind of other things in the command string that I want to take out) Where do I set this (config file location)? /usr/bin/gnome-wm for gnome, for kde create ~/bin/kde-start-compiz script containing one command compiz-manager. Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
