Where is the SuSE Community? http://osdir.com/modules.php I think we are here http://www.novell.com/nl-nl/products/linuxprofessional/links/ (especially the section about "onofficiële hulpbronnen voor SUSE LINUX" Missing links from the above are: http://linux01.gwdg.de/apt4rpm/suse-links.html -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless

Thanks, Anders. :) The writer must have missed these: gg:suse community forum 1st & 7th link: http://forums.suselinuxsupport.de/ 2nd page, last link: http://forge.novell.com/modules/xfmod/newsportal/?group_id=1367 But 2 links on the 1st 4 pages (3 out of 40) is not much, especially if none of them points to suse or novell directly. One could say there is room for some improvement... ;) Cheers, Leen

I agree. I come from the Mandrakelinux world where the Community is very strong and active. I think the problem is not the number of places where you can find some Suse help, but instead the act that the Community is not working with Suse developpers (like Mandrake Cooker for example). Furthermore the Community should be sponsored by Suse officially. You SHOULD have an adresse like www.suse.com/community with forums, Wiki etc

I agree, there is one place that Mandrake beats Suse and it's the
cooker:

there is also the Wiki : http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/wiki and bugzilla, their bug tracking system : http://qa.mandrakesoft.com You may propose ideas for new releases : http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/IdeasForMandrakelinux102 or for example suggest improvements on boot time : http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/twiki/bin/view/Main/BootTimeOptimisation

IMO this mailinglist (or should I say these mailinglists, as there are more, see http://lists.suse.com/) is also a community. There is a core of people that show up very often and try to help where they can.

Hmm, I think you are a bit off here. This very mailinglist is watched by several SUSE developers (recently I noticed Peter Poeml, to give an example). And the suse-autoinstall mailinglist is watched by Anas Nashif. To find more SUSE employees, search this mailinglist for the term '@suse.de' or '@suse.com' to search for their email addresses. BTW, I do not know exactly how close the Mandrake developers work together with their community, so I can't compare.
Furthermore the Community should be sponsored by Suse officially. You SHOULD have an adresse like www.suse.com/community with forums, Wiki etc
The SUSE community exists, but is not centralized (I believe). SUSE could indeed provide a central place that lists those various spots where the community is active, maybe at their website, while also providing a Desktop shortcut (in KDE, GNOME, or what ever Desktop Environment). Cheers, Leen
